A Bit of a Do - jointly organised by the Cornwall Beekeepers Association and the West Cornwall Beekeepers Association

Refreshments available from 9.30 am for a 10 am start.

Our keynote speaker is Norman Carreck from the University of Sussex and other speakers include Rodger Dewhurst and Jo Widdicombe. Norman Carreck is a member of the Technical Committee of the British Beekeepers Association, a Committee Member of the Central Association of Bee-Keepers, a Trustee of the C.B. Dennis Beekeepers Research Trust, Secretary of the Examinations Board of the National Diploma in Beekeeping, Senior Editor of the Journal of Apicultural Research and the Scientific director of the International Bee Research Association.Apart from lectures there will workshops and trade stands. The section on Morphometry will describe how it is possible to determine the strain of your bees from their wing patterns and you are invited to bring samples of your own bees for testing during the practical sessions.
The event is expected to be fully subscribed, so you are advised to order your tickets in advance. Tickets are available at £5 each in advance and £7 on the door.

Hampshire Bee Convention, 2010

Morning: Pam Hunter, respected biologist and beekeeper with a particular interest in the foraging and pollination aspects of bees and Selwyn Wilkins, experienced beekeeper and Commercial and Diagnostic Services Manager at The National Bee Unit, will be sharing with us their knowledge and experience of maintaining healthy bees whilst Margaret Davies and Tom Salter will be judging your Honey & Wax entries and Mary Dartnell your Confectionery.
Afternoon: HBA Honey Show open to view and a series of informal ‘workshops’ on all aspects of beekeeping to attend. With Bee Books New and Old, Compak and Thornes.
